3 Lesser Known Goldendoodle Facts

If you are on the fence about getting a Goldendoodle, you may just need a few more details about this fun-loving breed before you get your puppy. Goldendoodle puppies are adorable and sweet, as with most puppies, but they turn into majestic adult dogs that you will want to have in your home. Here are a few lesser-known facts about Goldendoodles

A Variety of Colors

Some people mistakenly assume that all Goldendoodles come in the red/brown color that is very popular. However, depending on the color of the poodle, you may be able to find Goldendoodles in black, white, gray, or brown, in addition to the popular red. There is actually a special sub-breed of Goldendoodles called an English Goldendoodle, where one of the parents is an English cream golden retriever. These Goldendoodles are perfectly white.

A Variety of Sizes

While some Goldens can get very large, there are a variety of sizes that you can choose from. A small standard Goldendoodle can be anywhere from 40-50 lbs, whereas a mini will be around 15-30 lbs. A large standard Goldendoodle is usually 50-90 lbs. Any of these sizes make for good dogs.

Multigenerational Benefits

You may notice that the breeder who is selling puppies will also tell you some numbers and letters when explaining to you what kind of dogs they have. For example, your breeder may tell you they are offering F1B Goldens, or just F1 or maybe even F2's. This is an important factor which you need to consider. An F1 puppy is one that is a first-generation cross, or in other words, they have one golden retriever parent and one poodle parent. That means they may have less curly fur and they may shed a small amount since they are 50% poodle and 50% golden retriever. An F1B puppy, on the other hand, means that they have one Goldendoodle parent and one Poodle parent. That means they about 75% poodle and only 25% Golden. They will likely not shed at all and have very curly fur. Doing your research can help you to figure out exactly what kind of dog you will be getting.

In conclusion, if there are Goldendoodle puppies for sale near you, snag one before they are gone. This breed became popular recently and has since become an extremely common and sought-after dog. Puppies can sometimes be hard to find, so get or reserve yours today.
